Frequently Asked Questions

What age are ArkiBlocks designed for?
ArkiBlocks are designed for children aged 3–6. The pieces are sized and finished to meet Australian safety standard AS/NZS 8124 for 3+ age labelling. As with all toys, adult supervision is recommended for younger children.

Are ArkiBlocks safe?
Yes. Every set is made from 18mm MDF with a gloss water-based paint finish — no solvents, no toxic chemicals. ArkiBlocks meets EN71 safety certification requirements, independently tested by an accredited laboratory. The CNC-cut pieces are designed to be burr-free with no sharp edges.

What are the blocks made from?
The blocks are CNC-cut from 18mm MDF and finished with a gloss water-based lacquer in five colours — Terracotta, Teal, Sage, Peach, and Mustard. MDF is used for its consistency, smoothness, and ability to hold a clean paint finish. Formaldehyde emissions are independently tested and within safe limits.

How do the blocks connect?
ArkiBlocks use an interlocking mechanic — the pieces click together rather than just stacking. This means structures hold together under the pressure of real play. It's the key difference between ArkiBlocks and every other design-led block on the market.

How many pieces are in a set?
The Mini Starter Set contains 35 pieces across five colours. At $99, that's $2.83 per piece — less than a cup of coffee per block.

Are the colours painted or stained?
Painted. Each block has a gloss water-based paint finish, which gives the colours their depth and vibrancy. The finish is non-toxic, independently verified, and designed to hold up to genuine play.

Do you offer larger sets?
Yes. The range includes the Builder Set and Studio Set for more ambitious builders, plus colour expansion packs so families can grow their collection over time. The cost per piece decreases as set size increases.

Where are ArkiBlocks designed and made?
Designed in Melbourne, Australia by architect and urban designer Josh Blashki. Manufactured in China to Australian and international safety standards.
